Saglit Lang, Totoo Na: Seven Plays in Makati
An older sister teaches good manners while doing the opposite herself in Caleb Alvarez’s Sa Mga Mata ng Bata. Her younger sibling is paying attention. The play is part of FirstSun Production’s Saglit Lang, Totoo Na (The Re-run), a bill of seven short plays returning to Makati in November.
Directed and produced by Rodel Mercado, the production opens on November 7, 2026, at The Mirror Theater Studios in Poblacion, Makati, following its June staging.
In Alfonso I. Dacanay’s Eyeball, Patrick arrives at a first meeting with an image of Eileen already in his head. When she does not match it, his expectations deserve a closer look, too.
The seven plays in the November programme
- Walang Iwanan, by Rene O. Villanueva: Two lovers continue a secret relationship sustained by a promise not to leave each other. A revelation threatens the arrangement they have been trying to preserve.
- Over a Cup of Coffee, by Vincent De Jesus: A young man opens up to his mother about his gender identity over breakfast. The ordinary family conversation becomes a test of honesty and acceptance.
- Eyeball, by Alfonso I. Dacanay: Eileen and Patrick decide to meet after developing an online friendship. Patrick’s first impression of Eileen does not match the person he had imagined.
- Wagas, by Glory Ann Nacional: Two people confront the sacrifices and difficult choices within their relationship, including whether sincere love can be sustained.
- Babae sa Dilemma ng Bra, by Glory Ann Nacional: Sandra prepares for a date three years after a breakup, only to receive messages that disturb her plans. Four bras give voice to different emotions as she sorts through what she feels.
- Hele, by Caleb Alvarez: Rafael returns home after seven years away, during the Feast of San Isidro. His reunion with his mother and uncle carries a secret he has yet to disclose.
- Sa Mga Mata ng Bata, by Caleb Alvarez: An older sibling’s lessons in good conduct are undermined by her own actions, leaving the younger one to notice the contradiction.
