Manila theater already has one of its biggest 2027 titles, and we do not even have a cast yet. 9 Works Theatrical is bringing Disney’s Frozen The Broadway Musical to Manila for its Philippine premiere in April 2027 at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati. Yes, Manila is going to Arendelle. The musical is based on Disney’s 2013 animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Filipino-American composer Robert Lopez, and a book by Jennifer Lee. It also arrives with a built-in problem for whoever stages it: almost everyone already knows what Frozen is supposed to look, sound, and feel like. On Your Feet! Manila Enters Its Final Weekends

On Your Feet! Manila Enters Its Final Weekends
At a glance: On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan is entering the final stretch of its Manila run at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell Center, Makati. Presented by Rockwell and 9 Works Theatrical, the production stars Kayla Rivera and Molly Langley, alternating as Gloria Estefan, opposite Cuban-American actor Jason Canela as Emilio Estefan. The Manila production of On Your Feet! brings the music, movement, and story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan to the Proscenium Theater. Photo courtesy of Rockwell. If a production is selling Gloria Estefan, it has to look like it can move. The Manila staging does. On Your Feet! arrives with bright lights, a full ensemble, bodies constantly in motion, and stage pictures that seem to come with their own rhythm. It pushes toward the edges of the Proscenium Theater stage without losing the people at the center of the music. That movement is part of what makes the production work. Audiences arr...

On Your Feet! Review: Kayla Rivera Outshines Costumes
Photo by Saul de Jesus / Unsaulicited Video via YouTube At the July 8 Preview Night of 9 Works Theatrical’s On Your Feet! , the show did not immediately explode the way a Gloria Estefan musical is expected to. It was polished. It was colorful. It had the shape of a production ready to burst. But at first, it felt slower than expected. The rhythm was there, but the emotional pulse still felt like it was waiting for the right number to unlock it. Then Anything For You happened. That was when the production finally found its heart. Not because the number was the loudest or the biggest, but because it gave Gloria the space to be felt. Kayla Rivera settled into the moment beautifully, with the blending from Gloria’s sister Rebecca giving the song an added layer of warmth. It was tender, clear, and exactly the point where the show started to pick up completely. From there, On Your Feet! became the show it was trying to become. Kayla Rivera sh...

YEMAYA Review: 9 Works Theatrical
The stage before the June 12 press preview of YEMAYA at The Black Box at The Proscenium Theater. Photo by Saul de Jesus / Unsaulicited. The best way to enter YEMAYA is not to demand a map. It is to allow yourself to believe, even for a while, that its world exists. At its June 12 press preview, 9 Works Theatrical’s YEMAYA did not build every corner of that world for the audience. Instead, it invited us to become active participants in imagining it: the fictional province of Magdalena, the city beyond it, the waters leading toward an idealized America, and the uncertain possibilities waiting past the shore. That trust is one of the production’s strengths. YEMAYA taps into a part of the psyche that adulthood often teaches us to suppress. It puts us through the paces of childlike wonder, shock, hope, fantasy, and the unexpected. It allows the story to unravel without immediately explaining every bend in the journey. At times, it...
