A homecoming that looks forward

De Ocampo’s return carries the weight of the years she spent building and refining her voice abroad, but the direction is forward. The Homecoming Concerts are part of her move to establish an Asian base while continuing her international work.

Born in Manila, De Ocampo initially pursued pre-medical studies at Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia University before turning toward music. She later received a scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music, where she completed her studies in vocal performance under Edward Zambara.

During her years in New York, she developed her grounding in solo, sacred, and recital repertoire. She also worked with renowned Filipino soprano Evelyn Mandac.

Her professional engagements in the United States included work connected with Washington Opera, now Washington National Opera, as well as Washington Concert Opera and concerts associated with the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. She later continued her artistic development in Europe, including four and a half years in Paris and a period of focused study in Milan.

Before the four upcoming Homecoming Concerts, De Ocampo performed in Ritoma Vincitor! Arias Unleashed on April 19 and Curtains Up: Opera Meets Broadway on May 31.
